Winda Rajakangas Data Center is a major approximately €500 million hyperscale digital infrastructure development planned across a 22-hectare site on Jäämerentie in Rajakangas, Keminmaa, Lapland, Finland. Co-developed by Finnish renewable energy developer Winda Energy Oy and investment firm Gi21 Capital, the 120 MW power-capacity facility is engineered to support high-density artificial intelligence model training and cloud computing workloads. The substantial planned power capacity provides the foundation for energy-intensive computing environments, where AI clusters require continuous electricity and advanced thermal management to maintain performance. Designed to Tier III fault-tolerant standards, the campus incorporates resilient infrastructure intended to support reliable data center operations while accommodating high-density computing equipment. Lapland's cold climate is a central element of the facility's cooling strategy, enabling 100% free-air cooling and reducing reliance on conventional mechanical cooling systems. The development is also planned for direct integration with Winda's regional wind and solar generation assets, creating a connection between renewable electricity generation and power-intensive digital infrastructure. High-capacity fiber connectivity further supports the campus, with planned routes linking the facility to Nordic subsea network backbones and European internet exchanges. This connectivity architecture is designed to support data-intensive cloud services, AI workloads, and international digital traffic while connecting the development with broader European network infrastructure. The combination of 120 MW power capacity, renewable energy integration, free-air cooling, Tier III design, and high-capacity fiber connectivity creates an infrastructure platform tailored to large-scale AI and cloud computing requirements. Its location in northern Finland also provides access to a cold climate and renewable energy resources, supporting the project's planned operating model and positioning the Rajakangas campus as a potential hyperscale digital infrastructure development within Finland's expanding data center ecosystem.
