Status: Announced / Under Development | Location: Potter County (Adjacent to 345kV Substation), Texas Panhandle, USA
Zone Frontier Potter County Data Center Campus is a planned 500 MW ultra-hyperscale artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC) campus spanning approximately 4,077 acres in Potter County near Amarillo, Texas, USA. Developed by Zone Frontier Inc. in partnership with HST Technologies, Inc., the project is designed to support large-scale AI model training, inference, cloud computing, and other power-intensive workloads requiring high-density computing infrastructure. Up to 800 acres of the site are designated for data center halls, while at least 1,800 acres are allocated for co-located solar generation and battery energy storage systems (BESS), creating an integrated approach to power generation, storage, and digital infrastructure. The campus is planned with infrastructure capable of supporting next-generation high-density computing environments, including heavy-load reinforced concrete building pads and modular steel data hall frames designed to accommodate large-scale equipment deployments. Thermal management is a key component of the facility design, with liquid-cooling readiness incorporating direct-to-chip cooling and rear-door heat exchangers to support high-performance processors and dense AI accelerator configurations. Automated hot-aisle and cold-aisle thermal containment systems are also planned to improve airflow management and operational efficiency across the data halls. Fire protection infrastructure includes VESDA early smoke detection technology for rapid identification of potential fire events and clean-agent gas suppression systems designed to protect sensitive electronic equipment without introducing water-related damage. The combination of large-scale computing capacity, dedicated renewable energy generation, battery storage, advanced cooling architecture, and specialized safety systems positions the Potter County campus as a purpose-built development for the expanding requirements of AI and HPC workloads. Its substantial land footprint also provides room for phased development and future expansion as demand for hyperscale computing infrastructure increases.
