AWS Opens Second Data Center in Hyderabad to Expand Cloud and AI Infrastructure in India

Hyderabad, India - July 15, 2026 - Amazon Web Services (AWS) has inaugurated its second data center in Hyderabad, expanding its cloud infrastructure footprint in India as demand for artificial intelligence, generative AI, and digital services continues to accelerate across the country.

The new facility strengthens the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad) Region, increasing the company's regional compute, storage, and networking capacity to support enterprises, startups, government agencies, and developers running cloud-native and AI workloads. The expansion forms part of AWS's long-term investment strategy in India, where organizations are rapidly adopting cloud platforms to modernize applications and deploy data-intensive AI services.

AWS said the additional data center is designed to enhance scalability, resilience, and availability within the Hyderabad region while enabling customers to meet local data residency and compliance requirements. The facility will operate alongside the existing infrastructure launched in Hyderabad in 2022, providing additional capacity as cloud adoption continues to grow.

The investment comes as India emerges as one of the fastest-growing cloud and AI markets globally. Enterprises across sectors including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, telecommunications, retail, and the public sector are increasingly deploying generative AI applications that require high-performance computing infrastructure and low-latency cloud services. Expanding regional data center capacity allows AWS to meet these requirements while reducing latency for customers across southern and central India.

Beyond supporting cloud workloads, the new facility reinforces Hyderabad's position as one of India's leading digital infrastructure hubs. The city has attracted substantial investment from hyperscale cloud providers, colocation operators, and technology companies due to its reliable connectivity, expanding fiber ecosystem, skilled workforce, and supportive government policies. Growing AI adoption is also driving demand for additional data center capacity capable of hosting GPU-intensive workloads.

AWS noted that its infrastructure investments contribute to the broader digital economy by creating employment opportunities across construction, engineering, operations, facility management, and the local technology ecosystem. The company has continued expanding its infrastructure footprint globally to keep pace with rising demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence services, with India remaining a key strategic market.

The Hyderabad expansion also supports AWS's previously announced commitment to invest billions of dollars in India's cloud infrastructure over the coming years. As organizations increasingly migrate mission-critical applications to the cloud and scale AI deployments, hyperscale providers are investing in additional regional capacity to ensure high availability, business continuity, and regulatory compliance.

The opening of the second data center reflects the broader evolution of India's digital infrastructure landscape, where cloud providers are accelerating investments in AI-ready facilities to accommodate rapidly growing compute requirements. With demand expected to continue rising, Hyderabad is strengthening its role as a major cloud and data center destination, supporting both domestic enterprises and multinational technology companies operating across the region.
