Jakarta, Indonesia - January 28, 2026 – Digital Edge, an Asia-Pacific digital infrastructure developer backed by Stonepeak, has announced plans to invest USD 4.5 billion to develop a large-scale, AI-ready hyperscale data center campus in Indonesia, marking one of the country’s biggest data center investments to date.

The project, known as the CGK Campus, will be developed within the Greenland International Industrial Center (GIIC) in Bekasi, east of Jakarta. Once fully built, the campus is expected to deliver 500 megawatts (MW) of IT capacity, with the potential to scale up to 1 gigawatt (GW) as demand increases, according to the company.

Digital Edge said the campus has been designed specifically to support high-density artificial intelligence and cloud workloads, reflecting growing demand from hyperscale customers across Southeast Asia. The facility will incorporate direct-to-chip liquid cooling, advanced power distribution systems, and energy-efficient infrastructure targeting a power usage effectiveness (PUE) of approximately 1.25.

The development will be delivered in phases. The first phase, comprising three data center buildings, is expected to come online starting in late 2026, with additional capacity scheduled for delivery through 2027. At full build-out, the CGK Campus is expected to be among the largest AI-ready data center developments in the region.

John Freeman, chief executive officer of Digital Edge, described the project as a strategic investment aligned with Indonesia’s rapidly expanding digital economy. He said the campus is intended to support long-term growth in cloud adoption, artificial intelligence, and data-intensive services across the country and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

The campus will benefit from proximity to Jakarta’s existing data center clusters and will be supported by connectivity from Indonet, Digital Edge’s local telecommunications arm. The company said the site will feature fully underground fiber routes to enhance resilience and network reliability for enterprise and hyperscale customers.

Indonesia has emerged as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing data center markets, driven by cloud expansion, digital services growth, and increasing AI adoption. Industry analysts say large-scale, AI-ready campuses such as CGK are likely to play a critical role in meeting future compute and power density requirements while supporting national digital infrastructure goals.

Digital Edge currently operates multiple data center facilities across Asia-Pacific and said the Indonesian investment represents a cornerstone of its long-term regional expansion strategy.
