Stockholm, Sweden, September 10, 2025- EcoDataCenter, the Swedish digital infrastructure provider, has secured EUR 600 million (USD 703.5 million) in debt financing from Deutsche Bank’s Private Credit and Infrastructure unit to expand its AI-ready, low-carbon campuses in Falun and Borlänge. The funds, which will later be sold to other investors, bring the company’s total fundraising to EUR 1.8 billion (USD 2.11 billion) since 2023, backed by parent company Areim AB.

The new financing will accelerate construction at the Falun campus, which is on track to reach 68MW by 2027, and launch development at Borlänge, a former paper mill site acquired from Stora Enso. With a planned capacity of 360-400MW, Borlänge is set to become one of Europe’s largest AI-focused data centers.

EcoDataCenter has built its reputation on sustainability. The company runs on 100% renewable energy from hydropower and wind, uses materials like Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), and achieves a PUE of 1.22. It also channels excess heat into local thermal plants, lowering overall environmental impact.

Its client base includes BMW, DeepL, and CoreWeave, with which it partnered to build one of Europe’s largest AI training clusters in Falun. That facility will host Nvidia Blackwell SuperPods to deliver high-performance computing power for next-generation AI workloads.

CEO Peter Michelson said, “The financing ensures a two-to-three-year runway for the company’s growth, driven by surging AI demand.” He highlighted Sweden’s strengths, abundant green energy, affordable land, and a skilled workforce, as key advantages positioning the country as a global data center hub to rival North America and Asia.

Sweden’s reliable power grid and connectivity have already drawn investments from global players such as Microsoft, Meta, and Alphabet. Michelson added that EcoDataCenter has no immediate plans for an IPO, noting that the funding reflects strong investor confidence in its sustainable model.
