Toronto, Canada - December 9, 2025 - InfraRed Capital Partners announced the launch of Qu Data Centres, a new Canadian digital-infrastructure platform built around nine data-centre facilities acquired from Rogers Communications. The newly formed entity brings to market a combined capacity of up to 49 MW and about 187,840 sq. ft of IT data-hall space, serving over 750 enterprise and colocation customers across major Canadian markets.

The portfolio spans seven major metropolitan areas, including Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton and London (Ontario). InfraRed said the acquisition enables Qu to deliver sovereign-Canadian colocation, cloud and connectivity services, with Rogers continuing to supply network connectivity into the campuses.

James Beer, CEO of Qu Data Centres, commented that the acquisition provides a “strong launchpad” for the company. He added the platform will focus on “efficient, reliable and locally governed infrastructure” to meet increasing demand for cloud, AI and enterprise workloads from customers seeking data-sovereign hosting within Canada.

InfraRed framed the move as part of its broader strategy to build stable digital-infrastructure platforms offering both scale and flexibility. The transaction allows the firm to recycle capital from mature assets while providing continuity of service for existing clients, a financing and growth model increasingly common in data-centre investment cycles.

Market observers note the significance of a 49 MW pre-built capacity: with tight land and power constraints in many regions, buying an existing portfolio accelerates time-to-market compared to greenfield builds.

For Canadian enterprises and regulated industries with data-sovereignty requirements, Qu may offer a compelling alternative to overseas or U.S.-based providers, especially amid rising AI and cloud demand.

Full financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. InfraRed and Qu said they are evaluating future expansion opportunities but did not commit to publicly sharing a build-out roadmap or additional capacity targets.

By consolidating existing facilities under a single platform, InfraRed aims to standardise operations, improve service reliability, and position Qu as a leading domestic data-centre provider in Canada, potentially reshaping the regional colocation and cloud infrastructure market.
