Velbert, Germany, October 6, 2025- German IT services provider Netmountains has officially launched its latest data center in Velbert, North Rhine-Westphalia. This facility, comprising two units, VEL1 and VEL2, marks the company's sixth data center in Germany and is strategically located at Industriestraße 76, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Düsseldorf.
The Velbert data center was developed through the retrofitting of a former brewery equipment manufacturing facility. The first phase includes capacity for 100 server racks, with plans for future expansion. The facility features Direct-to-Chip Liquid Cooling (DLC) technology in VEL2, setting a new standard in energy efficiency, sustainability, and performance. VEL1 utilizes traditional air cooling.
Alexander Hanke, CEO and founder of Netmountains, expressed pride in the project's completion, stating, "A special moment for us – it was a long way from the initial concept to implementation. Now we can proudly say: Velbert has one of the most modern and sustainable data centers in Germany."
The data center serves as a hub for various IT services, including colocation, cloud hosting, and dedicated server solutions, catering to both regional and international clients. Thold-IT, a local IT services firm, is among the named customers of the site.
Netmountains operates additional data centers in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Falkenstein, and Nuremberg within Germany, as well as facilities in Helsinki, Finland, and Ashburn, Virginia, USA.
The Velbert data center emphasizes environmental sustainability through the adoption of DLC technology, which significantly reduces energy consumption compared to traditional cooling methods. This initiative aligns with Netmountains' commitment to providing eco-friendly and high-performance IT infrastructure solutions.
