Columbus, Ohio - December 31, 2025 - Vertiv has completed the acquisition of PurgeRite, a U.S.-based specialist in fluid management services, as the data center infrastructure provider moves to deepen its capabilities in liquid cooling amid rising demand from AI and high-performance computing deployments.

The transaction, which closed earlier this month, was valued at approximately USD 1 billion in cash, with the potential for up to USD 250 million in additional consideration tied to performance milestones. PurgeRite will be integrated into Vertiv’s global services organization, expanding the company’s ability to deliver end-to-end liquid cooling support for mission-critical facilities.

PurgeRite is known for its expertise in mechanical flushing, purging, filtration, and coolant management, processes that are increasingly critical as data centers transition from traditional air cooling to liquid-based thermal systems. These services help ensure cooling loops are free of contaminants and gases that can compromise performance, reliability, and equipment lifespan.

Vertiv said the acquisition enhances its thermal chain portfolio by combining PurgeRite’s fluid management capabilities with its existing liquid cooling, power, and digital infrastructure offerings. The company aims to support customers across the full lifecycle of liquid cooling deployments, from initial installation and commissioning through ongoing maintenance and optimization.

Gio Albertazzi, chief executive officer of Vertiv, said the deal strengthens the company’s ability to serve customers operating in high-density environments, where thermal efficiency has become a limiting factor for performance. He noted that advanced AI workloads are accelerating the adoption of liquid cooling, creating demand for specialized services that ensure system integrity and uptime.

The acquisition reflects a broader shift in the data center industry, as hyperscale operators and colocation providers deploy higher rack densities to support AI training and inference workloads. Liquid cooling is increasingly viewed as essential for managing heat loads that exceed the practical limits of air-based systems.

PurgeRite brings an established customer base that includes hyperscale cloud providers and large enterprise operators, along with specialized field teams capable of supporting complex, multi-site projects. Vertiv said the addition is expected to be margin accretive to its services business and expand its addressable market in thermal management.

The deal follows Vertiv’s recent investments in liquid cooling technologies, including cold plate systems, immersion-ready infrastructure, and coolant distribution solutions. Together, these moves underscore the company’s strategy to position itself as a comprehensive provider of infrastructure and services for next-generation data centers.

As AI-driven demand reshapes data center design, Vertiv expects liquid cooling services to become a core component of digital infrastructure operations over the coming decade.
