Status: Active Development / Phase 1 Construction | Location: AirTrunk TOK2 Campus, Ome, Tokyo Prefecture, Japan
AirTrunk TOK2 – Building 1 is the foundational hyperscale data center facility within AirTrunk’s flagship AirTrunk Tokyo West – TOK2 Campus, located on a 4.6-hectare (11.3-acre) site in Ome, Tokyo Prefecture, Western Tokyo, Japan. Representing Phase 1 of the broader multi-building campus, Building 1 is designed to establish a major geo-redundant computing hub in Western Tokyo and strengthen the region’s growing hyperscale infrastructure ecosystem. The facility is engineered to provide an initial 30.0 MW of critical IT load within an overall campus capacity of 110.0 MW, creating substantial room for phased expansion as demand for cloud computing and accelerated workloads increases. Building 1 is specifically configured to support high-density artificial intelligence GPU clusters, generative AI model training, hyperscale cloud availability zones, and other compute-intensive digital workloads requiring resilient and scalable infrastructure. Constructed to Tier III equivalent standards, the facility incorporates dedicated TEPCO high-voltage subtransmission grid feeds to support reliable electrical delivery, complemented by 2N/N+1 modular static UPS topologies and standby emergency generators for enhanced power continuity. High-efficiency closed-loop liquid-to-chip cooling readiness enables the facility to accommodate increasing rack densities and the thermal requirements associated with advanced AI hardware, while maintaining an infrastructure architecture suitable for future technology evolution. Carrier-neutral fiber pathways provide direct connectivity into Tokyo’s core network exchanges, supporting low-latency communications between the campus, cloud platforms, enterprise customers, and other critical digital infrastructure. With its Western Tokyo location, substantial campus expansion potential, resilient electrical architecture, advanced cooling capabilities, and network connectivity, TOK2 – Building 1 forms a significant component of AirTrunk’s strategy to expand hyperscale capacity across Japan’s Tokyo market.
