Akashi Data Center is a proposed $354 million Tier IV fault-tolerant hyperscale and AI-ready colocation campus planned across approximately 11 hectares in Astana, Kazakhstan. Developed by AKASHI Data Center PLC, the project is designed as a major digital infrastructure hub for Central Asia, with a planned four-building campus encompassing approximately 60,000 square meters of data center space. The facility is engineered to provide up to 100 MW of dedicated power capacity and accommodate approximately 4,224 racks, creating substantial infrastructure for enterprise computing, cloud services, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing workloads across the region. Its Tier IV architecture is intended to provide high levels of availability and fault tolerance for mission-critical and sovereign data environments, an increasingly important requirement for governments, financial institutions, technology companies, and large enterprises operating in the Eurasian digital corridor. The campus is also designed for high-density AI and machine learning deployments, including NVIDIA-based HPC systems with rack densities exceeding 20 kW. To support these demanding workloads, the development incorporates closed-loop liquid cooling capabilities designed to improve thermal management and enable greater compute density while reducing dependence on conventional cooling methods. Electrical resilience is strengthened through dual 110 kV utility feeds and a 5/4N UPS redundancy architecture, providing multiple layers of power protection for critical IT systems. The combination of large-scale power availability, high-density computing infrastructure, advanced cooling, and Tier IV resilience positions Akashi Data Center as a potentially significant regional platform for sovereign cloud, AI, HPC, and enterprise colocation services. Its location in Astana also provides a strategic gateway between Central Asian markets and the wider Eurasian digital infrastructure ecosystem, supporting the region’s growing demand for secure and scalable computing capacity.
