Apto DC Madrid Data Center Campus: 240MW Sustainable Hyperscale Hub in Fuenlabrada

Status: Under Development / Active Construction Phase   |   Location: Calle Sauce 20, Fuenlabrada, 28942 Madrid (~14 km from Madrid City Centre), Spain

Project Overview

Apto DC Madrid Campus is a flagship hyperscale and AI-focused data center development representing an investment of approximately €2 billion (US$2.3 billion), strategically located on a 195,000-square-meter regenerated brownfield site in Fuenlabrada, within the Madrid metropolitan region of Spain. Developed on the former site of a Coca-Cola bottling plant, the campus exemplifies sustainable industrial redevelopment by transforming an underutilized manufacturing property into one of Southern Europe's largest digital infrastructure hubs. Upon completion, the campus will deliver approximately 240 MW of critical IT capacity across five purpose-built data center facilities designed to support hyperscale cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), enterprise colocation, and other compute-intensive digital workloads. The first phase of development is supported by a dedicated 40 MW on-site electrical substation, providing a resilient power foundation while enabling future capacity expansion as customer demand increases. Engineered to international standards for reliability, scalability, and operational resilience, the campus incorporates redundant electrical and mechanical systems, high-density rack capabilities, advanced cooling infrastructure optimized for AI environments, multi-layer physical security, and carrier-neutral connectivity to major telecommunications networks and cloud platforms. Sustainability forms a central component of the project's design, with access to 100% renewable energy options, energy-efficient building systems, environmentally conscious cooling technologies, and the adaptive reuse of a brownfield site to minimize environmental impact and preserve undeveloped land. Supported by regional authorities as part of Madrid's growing digital infrastructure strategy, Apto DC Madrid Campus is positioned to become a major destination for hyperscale operators, cloud providers, AI innovators, and multinational enterprises seeking scalable, secure, and environmentally responsible data center capacity in one of Europe's fastest-growing digital markets.
