The Arcem Bergen Data Center is a proposed flagship multi-billion-kroner green computing and hyperscale campus situated at Arnatippen in Langedalen, Søndre Arna, Bergen, Norway. Developed by Arcem AS, the specialized Nordic powered-land and data center development platform of Oslo-based Bonum, the project represents a significant redevelopment initiative that would transform a former landfill and industrial storage site south of Arna station into modern digital infrastructure. The proposed campus is designed to provide substantial computing capacity for the growing requirements of hyperscale cloud services, enterprise applications, artificial intelligence (AI), and other high-density workloads. The development is planned for up to 130 MW of grid capacity, establishing a significant electrical foundation for future data center operations and phased campus expansion. A key advantage of the location is its direct proximity to the local Arna electrical substation, which supports the project’s planned connection to the regional electricity network. The site also benefits from access to the E16 transport corridor, providing strategic regional connectivity and access to Bergen and surrounding areas. From an energy perspective, the project is positioned within Western Norway’s low-carbon hydroelectric power grid, creating an opportunity to operate large-scale computing infrastructure using a predominantly renewable electricity supply. The redevelopment of an existing landfill and industrial storage area also provides an opportunity to repurpose previously developed land for next-generation digital infrastructure rather than relying solely on undeveloped greenfield sites. The project initiative has been formally submitted to Bergen Municipality for planning approval, marking an important stage in the development process. With its substantial planned grid capacity, strategic electrical and transport connections, access to low-carbon hydropower, and redevelopment-focused approach, the Arcem Bergen Data Center could become a significant addition to Norway’s emerging green data center ecosystem.
