Project Overview

Cerebras Mikkeli Data Center Campus is a high-density AI infrastructure facility in Mikkeli, South Savo, Finland, developed in partnership with Compute Nordic Finland to support Cerebras CS-3 wafer-scale AI compute and cloud services. The campus is designed to scale from an initial 50 MW phase to 80 MW, with a full contracted capacity of 165 MW supported by seven-year capacity agreements, providing a substantial power foundation for intensive AI workloads. Its scale and dedicated compute architecture position the site to support data-intensive applications that require high-performance processing and sustained infrastructure capacity. The facility incorporates closed-loop liquid cooling, an approach suited to the high thermal density generated by advanced AI computing while reducing reliance on conventional air-based cooling systems. Integration with Mikkeli’s municipal district heating network enables waste-heat recovery, allowing thermal energy generated by the data center to be redirected for district heating applications rather than released as waste. This infrastructure model connects the campus’s computing and energy systems, improving the practical utilization of heat produced during operations. The combination of high-capacity power availability, wafer-scale AI infrastructure, liquid cooling, and heat-recovery integration makes the Mikkeli campus relevant to the expansion of specialized AI computing capacity in Finland. Its phased development also provides a framework for increasing infrastructure capacity as contracted requirements and cloud-based AI workloads expand.
