Project Overview

The DE Devon Data Campus is a planned zero-carbon hyperscale and High-Performance Computing (HPC) data center development located in Alverdiscott, Torridge District, Devon, England, UK. Developed by Deep Green Energy (DE), the master-planned campus is strategically positioned adjacent to the National Grid Alverdiscott Substation, providing access to regional electricity transmission infrastructure and supporting the project’s objective of establishing a large-scale, energy-efficient digital infrastructure platform in North Devon. Designed for a total IT load capacity of 100.0 MW, the campus is intended to accommodate mission-critical cloud services, generative artificial intelligence, HPC, and other high-density computing workloads that require substantial and reliable energy and advanced thermal management. A defining feature of the development is its integrated heat-capture and district heating framework, which is designed to recover waste heat generated by computing equipment and redirect it toward nearby heating applications, improving overall energy utilization and creating potential benefits for surrounding communities. The campus also incorporates zero-water evaporative cooling architectures, reducing dependence on freshwater resources while supporting efficient facility cooling. For high-density AI and HPC deployments, direct-to-chip liquid cooling capabilities are planned to provide enhanced heat removal for increasingly powerful processors and accelerated computing systems. The project’s energy strategy is centered on 100% renewable power sourcing, supported through direct Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with nearby offshore and onshore wind generators. Its proximity to regional transmission infrastructure and renewable generation resources further supports the campus’s low-carbon operating model. By combining renewable energy procurement, advanced liquid cooling, water-efficient infrastructure, and waste-heat recovery, the DE Devon Data Campus is positioned as a next-generation digital infrastructure development designed to align hyperscale computing growth with the UK’s broader decarbonization and energy-efficiency objectives.
