Status: Planned | Location: Former Fort Gillem Site, Forest Park, Georgia 30297, USA
Digital Realty Fort Gillem ATL16 is a proposed hyperscale data center facility forming the second major building component of Digital Realty's planned US$3 billion digital infrastructure campus at the former Fort Gillem U.S. Army base in Forest Park, Clayton County, Georgia, United States. Located approximately nine miles south of downtown Atlanta, the development is part of a 97-acre master-planned campus encompassing approximately 1.9 million square feet of total technical building space across two main facilities, ATL15 and ATL16. The project is designed to expand Digital Realty's hyperscale infrastructure capacity in the Greater Atlanta market and address growing demand for advanced computing resources. ATL16 is intended to support high-density artificial intelligence workloads, including AI model training, GPU-accelerated computing and machine learning, alongside enterprise cloud platforms and other data-intensive applications. Its role within the wider campus allows the two facilities to form a coordinated digital infrastructure development capable of serving large-scale computing requirements. The location in Forest Park provides access to the Greater Atlanta business and technology ecosystem, including telecommunications networks, enterprise customers and regional connectivity infrastructure. Atlanta's position as a major commercial and telecommunications center makes it an important market for data center operators serving businesses across the southeastern United States. The redevelopment of the former military property also represents the conversion of an established site into a major technology infrastructure destination. Through ATL16, Digital Realty aims to strengthen its regional presence and provide additional capacity for cloud providers, enterprises and AI infrastructure users. Together with ATL15, the facility will form a substantial hyperscale campus supporting the continued growth of artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital services across the Southeast.
