Project Overview

Dover SM1B Data Centre is a flagship 200 MW hyperscale digital infrastructure development planned on an 8.7-hectare site at 165 Williamsons Road in South Morang, Victoria. Developed by Dover DC as part of the broader South Morang Data Centre Project in Melbourne’s northern growth corridor, the facility is designed to provide large-scale computing capacity for hyperscale, cloud, artificial intelligence, and other high-density digital workloads. The project features a three-story data hall building positioned on a 1.8-hectare building footprint, with the site located directly adjacent to the South Morang Terminal Station. This strategic position provides access to established high-voltage electricity infrastructure and supports the substantial power requirements associated with a 200 MW data center development. Submitted under Victoria’s Development Facilitation Program, SM1B forms part of the region’s expanding digital infrastructure landscape and is designed around future-ready computing requirements. The facility incorporates direct-to-chip liquid cooling capability to manage thermal loads generated by high-density AI servers and advanced computing systems. Closed-loop water-efficient operations are also planned to reduce dependence on external water resources while supporting efficient thermal management. The combination of high-capacity power infrastructure, strategic grid proximity, advanced cooling technology, and scalable data hall design enables SM1B to support demanding digital workloads. Located within the City of Whittlesea, the development also contributes to the transformation of Melbourne’s northern growth corridor into a larger hub for hyperscale and AI-focused digital infrastructure.
