Project Summary

Equinix AM9 Amsterdam Hyperscale IBX Data Center Netherlands

Status: Planned / Permitted   |   Location: Luttenbergweg 1, 1101 ED Amsterdam, Netherlands

Project Overview

Equinix AM9 is a planned International Business Exchange (IBX) data center facility at Luttenbergweg 1 in the Amstel III digital sub-market of Amsterdam-Zuidoost, Netherlands. The project forms part of Equinix’s broader multi-building campus expansion in Amsterdam, alongside the planned AM10 facility, and is designed to address demand for hyperscale cloud infrastructure, enterprise digital services, and high-density artificial intelligence workloads. The development is planned for up to 80 MW of utility capacity, providing substantial electrical infrastructure for compute-intensive applications and large-scale customer deployments. Due to electricity grid constraints affecting the Amsterdam region, the development is structured through phased building blocks, allowing capacity to be introduced progressively as grid availability and infrastructure conditions permit. Phase 1 is planned to utilize roughly 25% of the overall site capacity, establishing an initial operating footprint while allowing subsequent development to follow the availability of additional power. Equinix AM9 also benefits from its integration with the wider Equinix Amsterdam data center ecosystem, creating connectivity opportunities across a dense digital infrastructure environment. The facility is positioned to provide low-latency connectivity to major cloud service providers and digital network platforms, while access to Equinix Fabric supports interconnection between enterprises, cloud providers, network services, and other digital infrastructure participants. Connectivity to AMS-IX and NL-ix further strengthens the facility’s position within Amsterdam’s internet exchange ecosystem and supports efficient traffic exchange across domestic and international networks. Its location within Amstel III places the project within one of Amsterdam’s established digital infrastructure areas, where data centers, telecommunications networks, and enterprise technology services operate in close proximity. By combining substantial planned power capacity, phased development, cloud connectivity, internet exchange access, and integration with Equinix’s existing Amsterdam footprint, AM9 is positioned as an important planned addition to the city’s hyperscale and AI-ready digital infrastructure pipeline.
