Equinix Hong Kong HK6 30MW Greater Bay AI Gateway
Status: Fully Operational / Newly Launched | Location: Proximity to Hong Kong–Shenzhen Innovation and Technology Park
Project Overview
The official opening of the HK6 International Business Exchange (IBX) data center marks a pivotal expansion of Equinix's premium digital infrastructure footprint in East Asia. Purpose-built to support the accelerating compute demands of the AI era, this advanced multi-story facility is strategically positioned to serve as a high-density, low-latency cross-border gateway. HK6 bridges the unique economic zones of Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area (GBA), providing multinational enterprises, technology startups, and global cloud providers with a trusted, highly interconnected, and legally robust operational environment to scale their mission-critical digital systems safely. Architecturally, HK6 is custom-tailored to handle intense mathematical processing workloads, hosting dense clusters of next-generation graphics processing units (GPUs) required for generative AI models and distributed machine learning tasks. To control the severe thermal signatures generated by these high-power computing arrays, the facility deploys factory-integrated liquid-cooling technologies. This setup allows for liquid-to-air exchange mechanisms to coexist with traditional high-efficiency chilled water structures. This structural agility allows clients to seamlessly deploy custom, high-density hardware configurations without running into standard cooling limitations.
