Project Overview

The Equinix LS2, also known as the Lisbon LS2 IBX Data Center, is an enterprise-grade, carrier-neutral International Business Exchange™ facility operated by Equinix at Avenida Severiano Falcão 12–14 in Prior Velho, Lisbon, Portugal. Located directly adjacent to the existing Equinix LS1 IBX facility, LS2 forms part of an interconnected Equinix campus designed to provide customers with expanded colocation capacity, diverse connectivity options, and access to a broad digital infrastructure ecosystem. The facility functions as a multi-cloud and edge gateway, supporting enterprise applications, financial services infrastructure, high-density artificial intelligence workloads, and connectivity to global Internet exchanges. Developed with an initial capital investment of approximately €50 million, LS2 occupies a three-story reinforced concrete structure incorporating anti-seismic design principles and approximately 2,050 square meters of technical colocation white space. The facility is designed to accommodate demanding computing and networking environments while providing resilient infrastructure for mission-critical deployments. Its LEED-certified design incorporates sustainability-focused systems, including coverage by 100% renewable energy, alongside advanced liquid and precision air cooling options for high-density computing environments. Equinix LS2 also incorporates 2N power redundancy to support operational continuity and provide protection against infrastructure failures. As part of the wider LS1 and LS2 campus, customers can benefit from campus cross-connects that facilitate efficient communication between infrastructure deployed across the two facilities. The site provides low-latency access to Equinix Fabric®, GigaPIX, and international subsea cable networks, enabling customers to establish connections with cloud providers, carriers, Internet exchanges, and global digital services. Its strategic location in Prior Velho, close to Lisbon’s airport and major telecommunications infrastructure, further strengthens its connectivity advantages. By combining high-density colocation, resilient power systems, advanced cooling, renewable energy, and extensive interconnection capabilities, Equinix LS2 strengthens Lisbon’s position as an important European digital infrastructure and international connectivity hub.
