Project Overview

The Equinix ML3 Milan International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) is a key carrier-neutral colocation, interconnection, and cloud exchange facility operated by Equinix in Italy. Located at Via Francesco Sforza 13 in Basiglio, within the Metropolitan City of Milan in Lombardy, Italy, south of central Milan, ML3 serves as an important network peering and regional interconnection hub for global enterprises, content delivery networks, telecommunications providers, cloud platforms, and financial services organizations across Southern Europe. The facility spans more than 6,000 square meters of total building space, including over 2,100 square meters of technical colocation whitespace, and provides approximately 3.0 MW of critical IT load capacity for enterprise and digital infrastructure deployments. Designed around Tier III-equivalent high-availability principles, ML3 incorporates resilient infrastructure, including 2N power path redundancy, static UPS battery backup systems, standby emergency diesel generators, and N+1 precision climate-control systems to support continuous operation of critical IT environments. The facility’s connectivity capabilities are a central component of its role within Milan’s digital ecosystem, with integration into Equinix Fabric™ enabling customers to establish virtual connections to a broad range of cloud, network, content, and digital service providers. ML3 is also directly connected to MIX (Milan Internet eXchange), strengthening its position as a strategic peering location and providing access to Italy’s wider internet and telecommunications ecosystem. Low-latency inter-facility connectivity with other Equinix facilities, including ML2 and ML5, further expands customer access to interconnected digital infrastructure across the Milan metropolitan area. Through its combination of resilient power, backup generation, advanced cooling, carrier-neutral connectivity, and extensive interconnection capabilities, Equinix ML3 supports mission-critical enterprise workloads, cloud services, financial applications, content delivery, and regional digital connectivity across Italy and pan-European network corridors.
