Project Overview

The Equinix ML5 Milan International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) is a flagship hyperscale and carrier-neutral interconnection facility operated by Equinix in Italy. Located at Via Vico 1 in Rozzano, within the Metropolitan City of Milan in Lombardy, Italy, approximately 10 kilometers south of central Milan, ML5 serves as a strategic digital infrastructure hub for cloud service providers, global financial institutions, telecommunications operators, content providers, and enterprise customers across Southern Europe and the Mediterranean region. The facility offers more than 15,000 square meters of technical space and provides a total critical IT load capacity of approximately 18 MW, supporting high-density computing, mission-critical enterprise applications, cloud environments, and other demanding digital workloads. Designed around Tier III-equivalent high-availability principles, ML5 incorporates resilient infrastructure including dual independent 2N electrical feeds, static UPS systems, standby emergency diesel generators, and advanced energy-efficient cooling architectures designed to maintain reliable operating conditions for critical IT equipment. The facility also supports liquid-cooling integration, allowing it to accommodate higher-density deployments associated with artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and next-generation digital infrastructure. Connectivity is a key feature of the ML5 campus, with direct access to Equinix Fabric™ and MIX (Milan Internet eXchange), enabling customers to establish direct, low-latency connections with major cloud, network, content, and digital service providers. Its strategic location in the Milan metropolitan area provides access to important European telecommunications routes and international connectivity infrastructure, positioning ML5 as a key interconnection point between Italian enterprises and major European digital hubs. Through its extensive carrier and cloud ecosystem, Equinix ML5 strengthens Milan’s position as an important gateway for digital services, financial technology, cloud adoption, and international enterprise connectivity.
