Equinix SP6 São Paulo: 20MW Flagship Brazil IBX Data Center

Status: Operational / Phase 1 Live   |   Location: Equinix Corporate Campus, Santana de Parnaíba, São Paulo Metropolitan Region, Brazil

Project Overview

Equinix’s SP6 International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in São Paulo represents a major milestone in Latin America’s digital infrastructure evolution. Situated within Equinix’s established technological campus in the Santana de Parnaíba sub-market, this multi-million-dollar development expands high-density enterprise hosting and multi-cloud connectivity throughout the Southern Hemisphere. The facility addresses the accelerating demand for real-time localized artificial intelligence inference workloads, financial exchange low-latency routing, and multi-tenant enterprise digital transformations across Brazil and Latin America. Architecturally engineered to balance spatial efficiency with thermal management, SP6 features an advanced modular floor structure optimized to support heavy vertical server cabinets and high-density GPU cluster installations. The interior layout incorporates anti-static raised flooring, subterranean fiber distribution channels, and isolated cold-aisle containment corridors. By interfacing directly with Equinix Fabric and the broader global interconnection ecosystem, tenants can establish secure, private micro-second links to top-tier hyperscale cloud providers, local telecom carriers, and regional edge nodes without traversing the public internet. Sustainability forms a fundamental pillar of SP6’s design. Operations are fully backed by a long-term wind power purchase agreement (PPA) with Auren Energia, ensuring a clean and reliable power stream directly connected to Brazil’s National Interconnected System (SIN). The campus integrates high-efficiency closed-loop chillers designed to minimize water consumption while maintaining thermal thresholds under intense computing loads. Beyond supporting localized commercial enterprises, the facility serves as a vital routing anchor for international submarine cable landings along the Atlantic coastline, solidifying São Paulo's status as the premier digital crossroad for South American enterprise infrastructure.
