Fir Hills AI Supercluster Jeollanam-do: Technical Specs & Infrastructure
Status: Announced / Under Development | Location: Jeollanam-do Province, South Korea
Project Overview
The Fir Hills AI Supercluster is a mega-scale artificial intelligence data center development planned in Jeollanam-do, South Korea, and spearheaded by Stock Farm Road, Inc. in partnership with the provincial government. Led by Brian Koo and Dr. Amin Badr-El-Din, the project represents an ambitious investment initiative estimated between $10 billion and $35 billion, with the potential to scale to approximately 3 GW of power capacity. The development is designed to create a large-scale AI computing ecosystem capable of supporting advanced machine learning, foundational AI model training, inference, and other high-performance computing workloads. A central element of the project is its “Energy-to-Intelligence” (e2i²) framework, which integrates energy generation and advanced computing infrastructure into a coordinated development model. The campus is planned around high-density GPU infrastructure, requiring advanced cooling technologies to manage the substantial thermal loads generated by densely deployed AI accelerators. At the same time, the project emphasizes the integration of high-capacity renewable energy resources to support its significant electricity requirements and improve the sustainability of large-scale AI operations. The potential 3 GW capacity would position the Fir Hills development among the largest planned AI infrastructure projects in South Korea, providing substantial computing resources for domestic and international technology companies. Its location in Jeollanam-do also creates opportunities to connect AI infrastructure with the province’s growing renewable energy ecosystem. By combining large-scale power capacity, renewable energy integration, advanced GPU cooling, and hyperscale computing infrastructure, the Fir Hills AI Supercluster reflects a broader shift toward integrated AI and energy campuses. The project aims to establish a scalable foundation for next-generation AI workloads while demonstrating how renewable power and high-performance computing can be developed together as a unified digital infrastructure ecosystem.
