Project Overview

The Form8tion Madrid One Data Center, also developed under Thor Digital/Apto, is a flagship hyperscale and AI-ready data center campus located on a former industrial site at Calle Sauce 20, Fuenlabrada, Community of Madrid, Spain. Spanning more than 60,000 m² of technical whitespace across a 70-acre master-planned campus, Madrid One comprises five purpose-built data center facilities designed to provide scalable infrastructure for hyperscale cloud providers, enterprise customers, and artificial intelligence workloads across the Iberian Peninsula. The campus is engineered to deliver an ultimate critical IT load of more than 100 MW and potentially up to 160 MW, positioning it as a significant large-scale digital infrastructure development within the Madrid metropolitan market. Its modular design allows capacity to be developed in stages while maintaining operational resilience and flexibility as customer requirements evolve. The facilities incorporate modular block-redundant mechanical architectures, supporting high availability and enabling maintenance without disrupting critical operations. Madrid One is also designed to accommodate high-density liquid cooling, an increasingly important capability for AI and high-performance computing deployments where advanced processors generate substantially greater heat loads than conventional enterprise systems. Energy efficiency is another key element of the campus strategy, with target operational Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) levels as low as 1.20, helping optimize energy consumption across the facility infrastructure. The campus’s location in Fuenlabrada provides access to Madrid’s extensive telecommunications ecosystem, business markets, transport infrastructure, and expanding data center cluster. With its substantial development footprint, multi-building configuration, scalable electrical capacity, advanced cooling infrastructure, and efficiency-focused design, Madrid One is positioned to serve as a major southern data center hub for European cloud hyperscalers and enterprise AI deployments while contributing to Madrid’s emergence as one of Europe’s leading digital infrastructure markets.
