The Google Journey JNR2A Data Center represents the second major expansion phase within Google’s hyperscale artificial intelligence campus at 1362 Red Creek Road in Haskell, Texas, serving the broader Abilene regional technology corridor. Developed alongside the JNR1A facility, JNR2A is designed to significantly expand the campus’s overall computing and infrastructure capacity, adding approximately 250.0 MW of gross utility power capacity and 200.0 MW of critical IT load. The facility is intended to support large-scale artificial intelligence model training, enterprise cloud computing, machine learning, data analytics, and real-time inference workloads requiring substantial and reliable computing resources. Electrical infrastructure is supplied through high-voltage grid interconnections involving American Electric Power’s AEP Texas operations and the ERCOT power system. Resilience is strengthened through static modular 2N and Block N+1 uninterruptible power supply systems, complemented by standby emergency diesel generators designed to provide continuity during utility interruptions and critical maintenance events. JNR2A incorporates advanced thermal management infrastructure combining high-efficiency air-cooled chillers with direct-to-chip liquid cooling systems engineered for high-density TPU and GPU server racks. This architecture is designed to efficiently manage the substantial heat generated by accelerated computing equipment while supporting demanding AI workloads. The facility is strategically positioned along major long-haul fiber transit routes, providing access to diverse telecommunications infrastructure and Google’s wider cloud ecosystem. Subterranean dark-fiber entry vaults and dual carrier-neutral meet-me rooms support resilient network interconnection, while dedicated high-capacity routes provide efficient connectivity to Google Cloud regions. Zero-trust biometric access controls and continuous security measures provide protection for critical infrastructure, restricted areas, and sensitive computing environments. JNR2A therefore forms a major component of Google’s expanding AI and hyperscale infrastructure presence in West Texas.
