The Google Project Tembo Campus, located at the intersection of Terry Ranch Road and CanAm Highway in Cheyenne, Wyoming, represents a major planned hyperscale digital infrastructure development by Google. Situated across a large site in Laramie County near the Colorado border, the master-planned campus is designed to expand Google Cloud availability zone capacity while supporting increasingly demanding artificial intelligence, machine learning, and high-performance computing workloads. The development is planned around approximately 750 MW of gross utility power capacity and 600 MW of critical IT load distributed across multiple phased data center buildings. Its electrical infrastructure is expected to rely on high-voltage utility interconnections with Black Hills Energy, supported by static modular uninterruptible power supply systems configured in redundant topologies and emergency standby diesel generation for backup resilience. The campus is also designed to take advantage of Cheyenne’s high-altitude and relatively cool climate to improve operational efficiency. Thermal management incorporates advanced air-cooled chiller systems alongside direct-to-chip liquid cooling loops designed to support high-density GPU and accelerated-computing racks while limiting water consumption in Wyoming’s dry environment. As a potential major connectivity node within the Mountain West, the campus incorporates planned subterranean dark-fiber entry infrastructure, dual carrier-neutral meet-me rooms, and high-capacity fiber routes connecting toward major Denver-area network exchanges. Physical security is expected to include controlled perimeter access, biometric authentication, continuous surveillance, secured equipment areas, and zero-trust access controls. Through its large-scale electrical infrastructure, advanced cooling systems, resilient connectivity, and phased expansion strategy, Project Tembo is positioned to support Google’s long-term cloud and AI infrastructure requirements across the western United States.
