Project Overview

IREN Zamudio Data Center is a 30 MW high-density artificial intelligence and cloud computing facility being developed in Zamudio, Bizkaia, near Bilbao, Spain. Originally developed by Moana Data, a subsidiary of Ingenostrum and Nostrum Group, the project became part of IREN’s European portfolio following IREN’s acquisition of Nostrum Group in mid-2026. The facility is planned on an approximately two-hectare site and includes a 5,726 square meter building footprint designed to support high-density computing, AI workloads, cloud services, and other power-intensive digital applications. Its location in Bizkaia provides access to the wider Bilbao technology and industrial ecosystem while positioning the facility near major transatlantic subsea cable landing infrastructure, including the Marea and Grace Hopper systems. These international connectivity assets support low-latency data exchange between Europe and North American network corridors, strengthening the facility’s potential role in regional AI and cloud infrastructure. The project also incorporates direct dual underground grid connections, providing dedicated access to electricity infrastructure and improving supply resilience for continuous data center operations. The 30 MW capacity provides a substantial platform for high-density server deployments while allowing the facility to serve enterprise and hyperscale requirements across Northern Spain. Through its combination of high-capacity power infrastructure, subsea connectivity, strategic location, and AI-ready computing design, IREN Zamudio Data Center is positioned as a regional digital infrastructure asset supporting the expanding requirements of artificial intelligence and cloud computing across Northern Spain and Southern Europe.
