Joliet Technology Center Building A2 represents a specialized hyperscale data center facility within Phase A of the master-planned Joliet Technology Center megacampus in Joliet, Illinois. Developed by PowerHouse Hillwood Holding LLC, a joint venture between PowerHouse Data Centers and Hillwood Development Company, the approximately 795-acre campus is planned as a large-scale digital infrastructure hub comprising multiple two-story data center buildings designed to accommodate growing cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing demand across the Greater Chicago market. The broader campus is planned to provide substantial aggregate capacity, while Building A2 is engineered to deliver approximately 75 MW of gross power allocation and 60 MW of critical IT load within a two-story structure spanning approximately 144,500 square feet. Utility power is expected to be supplied through high-voltage substation interconnections with ComEd and the PJM Interconnection grid, supported by static modular uninterruptible power supply systems configured in 2N redundant topologies and emergency standby diesel generators to maintain continuity during utility disruptions. Thermal management incorporates air-cooled chilled-water plants integrated with direct-to-chip liquid cooling loops capable of supporting high-density GPU server racks and other accelerated computing equipment. Building A2 is also designed to provide resilient network infrastructure through subterranean dark-fiber entry vaults, dual carrier-neutral meet-me rooms, redundant internal fiber pathways, and direct dark-fiber connectivity toward central Chicago network exchange locations. Security infrastructure incorporates controlled perimeter access, biometric authentication, surveillance systems, secured equipment areas, and zero-trust access controls. Through its scalable electrical capacity, advanced cooling architecture, resilient connectivity, and integration within the larger Joliet campus, Building A2 is positioned to support increasingly intensive cloud and AI workloads while contributing to the continued growth of the Chicago-area data center market.
