Joliet Technology Center Building B2 represents a specialized hyperscale data center facility within Phase B of the master-planned Joliet Technology Center megacampus in Joliet, Illinois. Developed by PowerHouse Hillwood Holding LLC, a joint venture between PowerHouse Data Centers and Hillwood Development Company, the approximately 795-acre campus is planned as a major digital infrastructure hub comprising 24 two-story buildings with an aggregate capacity of approximately 1.8 GW, designed to accommodate growing cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and high-performance computing demand across the Greater Chicago market. Building B2 is engineered to provide approximately 75 MW of gross power allocation and 60 MW of critical IT load within a two-story structure spanning approximately 144,500 square feet. Utility power is supplied through high-voltage substation interconnections with ComEd and the PJM Interconnection grid infrastructure, supported by static modular uninterruptible power supply systems configured in 2N redundant topologies and emergency standby diesel generators to maintain operational continuity during utility interruptions. Thermal management incorporates air-cooled chilled-water plants integrated with direct-to-chip liquid cooling loops capable of supporting high-density GPU server racks and other accelerated computing equipment. Building B2 is also designed with extensive network infrastructure, including subterranean dark-fiber entry vaults, dual carrier-neutral meet-me rooms, redundant internal fiber pathways, and direct dark-fiber connections toward central Chicago network exchange points. Security infrastructure incorporates controlled perimeter access, biometric authentication, surveillance systems, secured equipment areas, and zero-trust security controls. Through its substantial electrical capacity, advanced cooling architecture, resilient connectivity, and integration within the broader Joliet Technology Center, Building B2 is positioned to support increasingly intensive cloud and AI workloads while strengthening the Greater Chicago region’s expanding hyperscale data center ecosystem.
