Kao Data Manchester (KMAN-01) is a flagship £350 million, 40 MW sustainable hyperscale data center campus located at Kenwood Point in Stockport, Greater Manchester, strategically positioned to serve the rapidly expanding digital economy across Northern England. Recognized as one of the region's largest and most advanced data center developments, the campus has been purpose-built to support the growing infrastructure demands of artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), cloud service providers, research organizations, financial institutions, and enterprise customers requiring scalable, low-latency digital infrastructure. The facility offers more than 11,000 square meters of highly resilient technical space capable of accommodating over 4,000 high-density racks, with flexible deployment options designed to support both conventional enterprise environments and next-generation GPU-intensive AI clusters. Sustainability is a core element of the campus design, with operations powered by 100% certified renewable electricity, supplemented by hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO)-fuelled backup generators and direct renewable energy power purchase agreements (PPAs), including solar generation. KMAN-01 utilizes an advanced hybrid cooling strategy that combines highly efficient indirect evaporative air cooling with direct liquid cooling (DLC) infrastructure, enabling support for extremely high rack power densities while maintaining an industry-leading annualized Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of approximately 1.20. The campus is also designed with resilient utility infrastructure, redundant power distribution, modular expansion capability, and multiple fiber connectivity options linking customers to major UK internet exchanges, cloud platforms, and telecommunications providers. Supported by enterprise-grade physical security, continuous environmental monitoring, and 24/7 operational management, Kao Data Manchester provides a secure, energy-efficient, and future-ready colocation platform capable of supporting the UK's accelerating AI, cloud, and digital transformation initiatives while delivering exceptional reliability, scalability, and sustainability.
