Status: Under Construction / Partially Operational | Location: Abilene, Taylor County, West Texas, USA (~1,100-acre site)
The Lancium Clean Campus in Abilene, Texas, is a flagship 1,200 MW (1.2 GW) artificial intelligence data center development spanning more than 1,100 acres, making it one of the largest AI infrastructure projects in the United States. Developed by Lancium with Crusoe Energy Systems serving as the primary developer and operator, the campus is purpose-built to support hyperscale AI training, inference, and high-performance computing workloads. The project includes eight data center buildings, each exceeding 100 MW in capacity, comprising a total of 32 modular 25 MW data halls that provide scalable deployment for next-generation AI infrastructure. The campus is engineered to accommodate up to 100,000 GPUs connected through a single high-speed integrated network fabric, enabling the efficient training and deployment of large language models and other advanced AI applications. The facility is expected to host infrastructure supporting Oracle Cloud and OpenAI as part of the Stargate initiative, reinforcing its role in the expansion of AI computing capacity. To efficiently manage the thermal demands of high-density GPU environments, the campus utilizes advanced closed-loop liquid cooling technology. Power is supplied through a direct connection to the ERCOT grid, complemented by locally sourced renewable energy and GE Vernova natural gas turbines that provide reliable backup generation during periods of peak demand. By combining gigawatt-scale power infrastructure, AI-optimized design, and resilient energy systems, the Lancium Clean Campus represents a major milestone in the development of next-generation AI data center infrastructure.
