Meta Hyperion: $10B Richland Parish AI Data Center Louisiana
Status: Under Construction | Location: Franklin Farm Property, Richland Parish
Project Overview
Meta Hyperion, formerly codenamed "Project Sucre," is Meta's largest and most advanced data center development to date. Announced in December 2024 as a $10 billion investment (with a joint venture valuation reaching $27 billion via Blue Owl Capital), the project is currently one of the largest active construction sites in the United States. Spanning 2,250 acres of former farmland, the campus is designed as a "Titan Cluster," a massive AI factory purpose-built to train future generations of open-source Large Language Models (LLMs), including Llama 4 and beyond.
The facility represents a paradigm shift in AI infrastructure, delivering over 2 gigawatts of compute capacity. To support this unprecedented density, Meta is utilizing a custom hardware stack featuring NVIDIA Blackwell and AMD Instinct MI450 architectures. The campus is engineered with high-efficiency liquid cooling and specialized networking to function as a single, massive AI supercomputer. Meta has also committed over $300 million toward local infrastructure improvements, including road upgrades and water systems, to ensure the rural parish can support the facility's massive scale.
