NEXTDC GE1 Geelong is a 4.4 MW critical IT load regional edge data center facility located across a 2,100 square meter footprint at 148–158 Obriens Road in Corio, Geelong, Victoria. Developed by NEXTDC as a $70 million infrastructure investment, GE1 is designed to strengthen regional Victoria’s digital infrastructure by providing a high-performance edge connection between local technology demand and Melbourne’s major hyperscale network corridors. The facility is engineered to Tier IV fault-tolerant standards, supporting continuous operations and resilient infrastructure for enterprise, cloud, artificial intelligence, and hybrid colocation workloads. Its 4.4 MW IT capacity enables the facility to accommodate high-density computing environments while supporting scalable digital services for businesses operating across Geelong and surrounding regional markets. The site incorporates N+N power redundancy to strengthen electrical resilience and maintain service continuity during equipment failures or maintenance activities. Direct liquid cooling readiness supports higher-density server configurations and future AI workloads, while closed-loop water systems contribute to efficient thermal management. Dual carrier-neutral Meet-Me-Rooms provide access to multiple telecommunications networks and improve connectivity diversity for customers. The facility also benefits from low-latency dark fiber interlinks positioned along the Princes Freeway digital corridor, supporting fast data exchange between regional workloads and Melbourne-based infrastructure.
