NEXTDC S1 Sydney: 16MW AI-Ready Tier III Data Centre

Status: Operational / Strategic Expansion (April 2026)   |   Location: 4 Eden Park Drive, Macquarie Park NSW 2113

Project Overview

As of April 2026, NEXTDC has accelerated the delivery of its next-generation AI-ready infrastructure across the Sydney market, reinforcing its position as a key digital backbone for enterprise and hyperscale workloads. Technically, S1 Sydney serves as a core interconnection hub within the broader “super-campus” ecosystem alongside its adjacent facilities, enabling seamless data exchange and scalable capacity expansion. The site has been upgraded to support a total IT load of 16 MW, underpinned by Piller Power Systems’ advanced Diesel Rotary UPS (DRUPS) technology combined with an Iso-Parallel Bus architecture, ensuring continuous power availability and operational resilience. Engineered for high-density deployments, the facility incorporates cold aisle containment and an advanced N+1 water-cooled chiller plant to maintain thermal efficiency under AI-driven workloads. Beyond infrastructure, S1 plays a strategic role as a sovereign connectivity gateway for Australia, hosting a rich ecosystem of more than 750 partners and offering native, low-latency on-ramps to leading cloud platforms, including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud, making it a critical node in the region’s digital economy.
