The NEXTDC SC2 Data Center is a high-density regional edge and cable landing connectivity facility developed by NEXTDC Limited in Maroochydore on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, Australia. Located at 10 South Sea Islander Way within the Maroochydore City Centre, the five-level facility occupies a strategic position adjacent to the Sunshine Coast International Submarine Cable landing station, creating an important digital gateway between Queensland and international markets across Asia and North America. The facility spans approximately 3,700 square meters of gross floor area across a 2,050-square-meter site and is master-planned to provide approximately 6 MW of critical IT load capacity. Engineered to Uptime Institute Tier III certification standards, SC2 is designed to support high-density colocation, enterprise applications, cloud connectivity and emerging artificial intelligence workloads. Its proximity to the submarine cable landing infrastructure enables low-latency international connectivity and direct access to major cloud and telecommunications networks, strengthening the Sunshine Coast’s position within Australia’s digital infrastructure ecosystem. The facility incorporates resilient electrical infrastructure, including 2N static UPS systems and standby diesel generators, providing redundancy and continuity for mission-critical workloads. Eco-efficient precision cooling systems support the thermal requirements of dense computing environments, with readiness for direct-to-chip liquid cooling as AI and high-performance computing rack densities continue to increase. The combination of edge computing capability, international submarine cable access, resilient power systems and advanced cooling infrastructure makes NEXTDC SC2 an important regional data center asset, supporting cloud services, digital businesses, telecommunications networks and latency-sensitive applications across Queensland and international markets.
