RackBank MAA2 Chennai Hyperscale Data Center: AI-Ready Hub
Status: Operational / Active Phased Expansion | Location: Ambattur / Sriperumbudur High-Tech Corridor, Greater Chennai Metropolitan Area, Tamil Nadu 600053, India
Project Overview
RackBank’s MAA2 Hyperscale Data Center in Chennai is a flagship AI-ready digital infrastructure facility strategically developed to support the next generation of hyperscale cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. Located in Chennai, India’s leading subsea cable gateway on the Bay of Bengal, the facility benefits from exceptional domestic and international connectivity through multiple submarine cable landing stations, making it a key hub for global cloud providers, content delivery networks, telecommunications operators, and enterprise customers. Purpose-built for high-density computing environments, MAA2 delivers scalable multi-megawatt IT capacity and incorporates RackBank’s proprietary Varuna liquid immersion cooling technology, enabling rack power densities of up to 150 kW per rack while significantly improving cooling efficiency and reducing energy consumption compared with conventional air-cooled environments. The facility is engineered to support ultra-dense GPU clusters required for large language models (LLMs), AI training, AI inference, scientific computing, and other compute-intensive applications. Sustainability is a core element of the campus, with a green-first energy strategy combining renewable solar power and hybrid gas-based generation to enhance energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and improve operational resilience. The campus also provides direct, low-latency connectivity to major Indian telecommunications networks, internet exchanges, cloud service providers, and international subsea cable systems, ensuring high-speed access to domestic and global digital markets. Combining advanced immersion cooling, scalable hyperscale infrastructure, sustainable energy practices, and world-class connectivity, RackBank’s MAA2 Hyperscale Data Center provides a future-ready platform supporting India’s rapidly expanding AI ecosystem, cloud adoption, and enterprise digital transformation.
