The Revikon Gießen Data Center is a proposed $1.1 billion (€1.0+ billion) high-density AI and cloud computing campus on a 16.75-hectare site in the Katzenfeld industrial area on the western edge of Gießen, Hesse, designed to add substantial next-generation computing capacity to the German digital infrastructure market. Developed by local property company REVIKON GmbH, the multi-phase project is planned to provide 65 MW of IT load capacity across an approximately 6-hectare development footprint, creating a scalable platform for AI, cloud computing and other data-intensive workloads. The planned capacity is particularly relevant to the growing demand for high-performance computing, where dense GPU deployments require reliable power infrastructure and efficient thermal management. A major feature of the project is its planned district heating integration, allowing waste heat generated by data center operations to be recovered and supplied to local residential heating networks. This approach gives the development a wider energy role beyond computing by potentially converting surplus thermal energy into a useful resource for nearby communities. The campus will also leverage high-voltage connections to the regional electrical grid, providing the power infrastructure needed to support continuous operation and future expansion across multiple development phases. Its location within an established industrial area provides a suitable setting for large-scale digital infrastructure while maintaining proximity to the regional population and energy networks. The combination of significant IT capacity, phased development potential, high-voltage grid access and district heating integration makes the Gießen project notable within Germany's evolving data center landscape. By coupling AI- and cloud-ready computing infrastructure with local waste-heat utilization, the Revikon development is designed to address both the growing demand for digital capacity and the increasing emphasis on energy efficiency and resource utilization in European data center development.
