The Scala AI City megacampus, located along Rodovia Osvaldo Aranha in Eldorado do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, represents one of the largest artificial intelligence data center developments planned in Latin America. Spanning approximately 1,200 hectares near Porto Alegre, the master-planned campus is designed to deliver up to 4.75 gigawatts of gross utility capacity and approximately 3.3 gigawatts of critical IT load for training advanced artificial intelligence models, cloud supercomputing, and international hyperscale workloads. Its energy infrastructure is expected to connect through high-voltage transmission interconnections to Brazil’s National Interconnected System (SIN), while leveraging the country’s hydroelectric and wind generation resources. The campus is engineered to support extreme computing densities and substantial thermal loads through advanced liquid-cooling infrastructure, including direct-to-chip cooling and closed-loop, waterless chilling technologies designed to reduce water consumption and improve operational efficiency. Resiliency is supported through sophisticated uninterruptible power supply systems, redundant electrical distribution, and extended-duration emergency generation capabilities. Connectivity is another strategic advantage, with the development positioned to access diverse terrestrial and submarine fiber networks serving southern Brazil and international markets. Multiple subterranean dark-fiber entry routes are planned to provide resilient, low-latency connectivity across South America and toward global internet and cloud backbones. With its combination of massive computing capacity, renewable-energy access, high-density cooling systems, resilient infrastructure, and extensive connectivity, Scala AI City is being positioned as a major regional hub for AI infrastructure, hyperscale computing, and next-generation digital services.
