STT Chennai DC 2: 57MW Ambattur Hyperscale Data Center
Status: Operational | Location: 226 Ambattur Red Hills Road, Kallikuppam, Ambattur Industrial Estate, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600053, India
Project Overview
STT Chennai DC 2 is a flagship hyperscale data center facility located in Ambattur, Chennai, one of India's most important digital infrastructure and subsea cable connectivity hubs. Built across an approximately 400,000 square foot gross built-up area, the facility delivers around 57 MW of critical IT power, making it one of the largest operational data center developments in Southern India. Purpose-built to support the growing requirements of global hyperscale cloud providers, artificial intelligence applications, large enterprise workloads, and digital service providers, the campus offers highly secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure for mission-critical operations. The facility is designed to accommodate high-density server deployments with advanced air and water cooling technologies that improve thermal efficiency while supporting modern GPU-intensive computing environments. A robust power infrastructure featuring a dedicated 110 kV dual-feed high-voltage utility connection, combined with fully redundant electrical systems and backup generation, ensures continuous availability and high operational reliability. Sustainability is a key element of the campus design, with more than 50% of its electricity sourced from renewable energy through long-term wind and solar power purchase agreements, complemented by onsite rooftop solar installations that further reduce carbon emissions. Strategically positioned near Chennai's extensive network of international subsea cable landing stations, the facility provides low latency connectivity to domestic and global markets, making it an ideal location for cloud platforms, content providers, financial institutions, and multinational enterprises seeking secure, energy-efficient, and future-ready digital infrastructure in one of India's fastest-growing technology ecosystems.
