STT Chennai DC 4 is an 18 MW critical IT load facility developed by ST Telemedia Global Data Centres India within its landmark Ambattur data center campus at 226, Surapet Main Road in Chennai. Located alongside the operational STT Chennai DC 2 and DC 3 facilities, the development strengthens STT GDC’s presence in one of South India’s most important digital infrastructure markets and contributes to a wider campus development potential of up to 130 MW. The facility is designed to accommodate hyperscale cloud providers, global technology companies, enterprise customers, artificial intelligence platforms, and other high-density computing workloads requiring scalable and resilient infrastructure. Electrical capacity is supplied through dedicated high-voltage substation feeds from TANTRANSCO, Tamil Nadu’s transmission utility, while modular static 2N and N+1 UPS systems provide additional protection against electrical disturbances and interruptions. Standby diesel emergency generators are deployed to maintain continuity during prolonged utility outages. For thermal management, STT Chennai DC 4 combines high-efficiency air-cooled chiller systems with direct-to-chip liquid cooling capabilities, enabling the facility to support increasing rack densities associated with AI and high-performance computing environments. The site also functions as an important network connectivity hub for South India, incorporating dual subterranean dark-fiber entry vaults and carrier-neutral meet-me rooms that provide access to diverse telecommunications networks. Direct connectivity to Chennai’s subsea cable landing infrastructure supports low-latency international communications and connections to major cloud and digital ecosystems. A five-layer, 24/7 physical security perimeter further protects critical infrastructure, customer equipment, and operational areas, supporting secure and highly resilient data center operations.
