Switch Citadel Reno Data Center Campus: 650MW Exascale Hub
Status: Operational / Active Phased Expansion | Location: 1 Superloop Cir, Tahoe Reno Industrial Center (TRIC), Sparks / Storey County, NV 89437, USA
Project Overview
Switch’s Citadel Campus in Tahoe Reno is one of the world’s largest and most advanced digital infrastructure developments, designed to support the next generation of hyperscale, artificial intelligence (AI), and high-performance computing (HPC) workloads. Spanning more than 2,000 acres in Northern Nevada, the flagship exascale campus provides a massive foundation for large-scale technology deployments, with planned capacity of up to 650 MW of power across approximately 7.2 million square feet of data center space. Built with a fortress-inspired design philosophy, the facility is engineered to deliver exceptional security, reliability, and operational resilience for mission-critical digital workloads. The campus incorporates Switch’s patented Switch SHIELD dual roof deck system, designed to withstand wind speeds of up to 200 mph, along with advanced tri-redundant UPS architecture to ensure continuous power availability. Supported by 100% renewable energy, the Citadel Campus combines sustainability with high-performance infrastructure requirements for AI training, machine learning, and enterprise-scale computing environments. Connected through Switch’s SUPERLOOP® fiber network, the campus provides ultra-low latency connectivity to major technology markets, including approximately 4 ms access to Silicon Valley, 7 ms to Las Vegas, and 9 ms to Los Angeles. With its large-scale power capacity, advanced engineering, renewable energy integration, and strategic connectivity, Switch’s Citadel Campus represents a critical hub for future AI-driven digital infrastructure.
