Project Overview

Techbau Trino Data Center is a large-scale 100 MW IT hyperscale and artificial intelligence compute campus located along Strada Provinciale 1 in Trino, within the Vercelli province of Piedmont, Italy. Master-planned by Italian general contractor Techbau, the development occupies an expansive brownfield and industrial site designed to provide additional high-density digital infrastructure capacity outside the primary Milan MXP data center corridor. The site's location within the Po Valley provides access to high-voltage power transmission infrastructure, creating a strong electrical foundation for energy-intensive hyperscale cloud, AI, and high-performance computing workloads. Proximity to regional dark fiber expressways connecting Milan, Turin, and Genoa further supports the campus's connectivity requirements, providing access to established telecommunications routes and major technology markets across Northern Italy. The facility is engineered to accommodate next-generation high-density server configurations, with infrastructure designed around the substantial power and thermal requirements of advanced computing platforms. Closed-loop cooling topologies provide a controlled thermal management environment for technical spaces, while N+1 and 2N electrical redundancy configurations provide additional resilience across critical power systems and support continuous operation during maintenance or equipment failures. Dual carrier-neutral Meet-Me-Rooms create diverse interconnection points for telecommunications carriers, cloud service providers, network operators, enterprises, and other digital infrastructure users. The campus also incorporates high-efficiency design standards targeting a power usage effectiveness below 1.18, reflecting an emphasis on reducing the energy overhead associated with cooling and facility operations. Its brownfield development model provides an opportunity to repurpose an established industrial site while adding new digital infrastructure capacity within Piedmont. The combination of 100 MW IT capacity, high-voltage power access, regional fiber connectivity, advanced cooling, redundant electrical infrastructure, carrier-neutral interconnection, and efficiency-focused design establishes Techbau Trino Data Center as a potential alternative location for hyperscale and AI infrastructure serving Northern Italy.
