Project Summary

Unidata UniCenter 20MW Tier IV Data Center Rome

Status: Active Construction / Fit-Out Phase   |   Location: Viale Alexandre Gustave Eiffel 100 / Ponte Galeria Area, 00148 Rome, Italy

Project Overview

UniCenter Data Center is a flagship 20 MW, Tier IV certified digital infrastructure development located in the Ponte Galeria technology corridor of Rome, Italy. Jointly developed by Italian telecommunications provider Unidata S.p.A., which holds a 25% stake, and Azimut Libera Impresa SGR, which holds a 75% stake through its Infrastructure and Real Estate funds, the project is backed by a €57 million joint venture and spans more than 20,000 square meters. The facility is designed to accommodate up to 3,200 high-density racks across multiple independent white space modules, providing a flexible infrastructure environment for enterprises, cloud platforms, telecommunications operators, and high-performance computing workloads. Its Tier IV certification reflects an infrastructure configuration focused on fault tolerance and continuous availability, while dual-path power systems provide resilient electrical connectivity to critical IT equipment. The facility also incorporates direct-to-chip liquid cooling capabilities to support the thermal requirements of high-density artificial intelligence and advanced computing workloads, allowing the infrastructure to accommodate evolving rack densities and accelerated computing platforms. UniCenter's connectivity architecture provides access to regional dark fiber networks, supporting high-capacity and low-latency connections with telecommunications carriers, cloud service providers, enterprises, and other digital infrastructure users. The facility is also integrated with the Unitirreno submarine cable system, providing connectivity between Rome and key Mediterranean destinations including Genoa, Marseille, and Sicily. Its location within the Ponte Galeria technology corridor places the development within Rome's established telecommunications and business infrastructure environment while providing access to international connectivity routes. The combination of 20 MW IT capacity, Tier IV certification, high-density rack capability, liquid cooling readiness, resilient power architecture, dark fiber access, and submarine cable connectivity establishes UniCenter Data Center as a digital infrastructure platform serving both domestic and international data transmission requirements. The development also strengthens Rome's position within Italy's broader data center and connectivity ecosystem by combining colocation capacity with direct access to terrestrial and subsea network infrastructure.
