Vantage Cardiff CWL12

Status: Planned / Site Infrastructure Under Development   |   Location: The Celtic Way Glasgow, UK

Project Overview

The Cardiff CWL13 development marks a massive infrastructure expansion on Vantage Data Centers' established South Wales campus. Located just outside Cardiff, this upcoming mega-facility represents a crucial alternative availability zone to the heavily constrained London/Slough data center markets. By adding an ultimate capacity of 120 MW of gross grid-connected utility power to the campus, the facility is designed to scale with the skyrocketing demand for regional sovereign cloud deployments and high-density artificial intelligence architecture outside India. The development capitalizes on the region's cooler maritime climate, robust power transmission grid, and strong local government support for digital technology investments.Architecturally, CWL13 is engineered from the ground up to support modern high-performance computing requirements. The building envelope will accommodate variable power densities, allowing enterprise clients and hyperscalers to deploy high-density graphics processing unit (GPU) clusters alongside standard compute arrays. To address the rigorous sustainability standards enforced across the UK, the facility will implement an advanced closed-loop cooling system. This structural layout utilizes ambient outside air for cooling most of the year, driving down water consumption to near zero during normal operations. The design features a multi-story layout optimized to provide high structural load capacities for dense server footprints while pursuing a BREEAM Excellent sustainability rating.
