Vantage CWL44 Bridgend Data Center: 20MW Hyperscale & AI Campus South Wales UK
Status: Active Development / Planned Greenfield Campus | Location: Bridgend Industrial Estate / Waterton Industrial Estate, Bridgend CF31 3WT, South Wales, United Kingdom
Project Overview
Vantage CWL44 is a planned hyperscale data center facility designed to deliver approximately 20 MW of critical IT capacity as part of Vantage Data Centers' expanding multi-building campus network across the South Wales digital corridor. Strategically located in Bridgend between Cardiff and Swansea, the facility strengthens Vantage's regional presence beyond its flagship Newport campuses while supporting the growing demand for hyperscale cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), high-performance computing (HPC), enterprise colocation, and next-generation digital services. Purpose-built for ultra-high-density computing environments, CWL44 is engineered to accommodate advanced GPU clusters, AI model training and inference, and other compute-intensive workloads requiring exceptional power density and operational resilience. The facility incorporates scalable electrical and mechanical infrastructure with robust utility grid connectivity, enabling reliable long-term power delivery and future expansion to meet evolving customer requirements. Designed in accordance with international standards for reliability and efficiency, the campus features redundant power distribution systems, energy-efficient cooling technologies, and flexible liquid cooling integration to support next-generation AI hardware while optimizing thermal performance and reducing energy consumption. Sustainability is a central element of the development, with operations planned to utilize 100% renewable electricity, low Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) targets, and environmentally responsible infrastructure practices that help minimize operational carbon emissions. Carrier-neutral connectivity, diverse fiber routes, advanced physical security, intelligent building management systems, and comprehensive fire detection and suppression technologies will provide the resilience and availability required for mission-critical digital operations. As part of Vantage's long-term investment strategy in the United Kingdom, CWL44 will enhance South Wales' position as a leading hyperscale data center market, providing secure, scalable, and future-ready infrastructure for global cloud providers, AI innovators, financial institutions, telecommunications operators, and multinational enterprises seeking sustainable, high-performance digital infrastructure.
