Vantage Johannesburg JNB2 (Isando Campus)
Status: Live / Operational | Location: Brollo Road, Isando, Germiston
Project Overview
Officially commissioned on January 12, 2026, the Vantage JNB2 Isando Campus is a strategic expansion of Vantage’s footprint in South Africa, following the success of its flagship JNB1 Midrand campus. Located in Ekurhuleni Johannesburg’s industrial and trade powerhouse, JNB2 is situated just 17km from the Midrand site and less than 2km from the NAPAfrica neutral Internet Exchange. This proximity makes it a critical cloud on-ramp for global hyperscalers and local enterprises alike.
What makes JNB2 unique is its sustainability First approach: Vantage repurposed a portion of an existing industrial warehouse for the initial phase, significantly reducing the "embodied carbon" typically associated with new-build concrete structures. The 20 MW facility is designed to withstand the region’s power challenges through a dedicated 35 MVA on-site substation and diverse municipal feeds. It serves as a vital node for the "SADC" (Southern African Development Community) region, providing the high-density compute power necessary for modern AI and cloud workflows. With this launch, Vantage further cements its dominance in the African hyperscale market, offering a PUE of 1.15—one of the lowest in the Southern Hemisphere—while utilizing a water-efficient closed-loop cooling system that is essential for South Africa’s water-stressed environment.
