Project Summary

Yamna Port of Açu AI Data Center Campus Rio de Janeiro Brazil 250MW

Status: Proposed / Land Reserved & Feasibility Permitting   |   Location: Port of Açu Industrial Complex, São João da Barra, RJ, Brazil

Project Overview

The Yamna Port of Açu AI Data Center Campus is a planned hyperscale digital infrastructure development located within the Port of Açu Industrial Complex in São João da Barra, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, approximately 280 km northeast of the city of Rio de Janeiro. Developed by London-based YamnaCo Ltd (Yamna), the project is positioned to establish a large-scale AI-focused data center campus within one of Brazil’s major industrial and logistics hubs. Yamna has secured a land reservation agreement covering an initial 20-hectare site, together with preferential rights to expand the development onto an additional 20 hectares, providing the potential for the campus to scale significantly as demand for high-density computing infrastructure increases. Phase 1 is engineered to deliver 250.0 MW of critical IT load capacity, targeting generative artificial intelligence, cloud computing, high-performance computing and other data-intensive workloads. The facility is planned to draw electricity from Brazil’s National Interconnected System (SIN), a nationwide grid supplied by a predominantly renewable generation mix, while integrated battery energy storage systems (BESS) are expected to provide additional flexibility, resilience and power management capabilities. The campus is also designed around advanced liquid cooling technologies suitable for high-density AI computing environments, enabling more efficient thermal management than conventional air-cooled systems. A further strategic advantage is its proximity to subsea telecommunications infrastructure, with direct access to fiber cable landing points near Atafona, supporting high-capacity, low-latency connectivity for cloud platforms, AI applications and other digital services. By combining substantial power availability, expandable land, advanced cooling, energy storage and international fiber connectivity, the Yamna Port of Açu campus is positioned as a significant emerging AI infrastructure hub in Brazil.
