Johannesburg, September 11, 2025- Digital Parks Africa (DPA), a fully South African-owned data centre provider, has announced a strategic partnership with iXAfrica Data Centres, East Africa’s first hyperscale, carrier-neutral, and AI-ready operator based in Kenya. The collaboration aims to expand access to advanced data centre services across Southern and Eastern Africa, creating a seamless pan-African digital infrastructure network.
Under the agreement, DPA customers will gain access to iXAfrica’s ecosystem in Kenya, including fibre and cloud operators, while iXAfrica customers can utilise DPA’s established infrastructure in South Africa, such as its Uptime Tier III Design Certified facility in Samrand, Gauteng. The arrangement allows multinational businesses to deploy and scale operations across borders with consistent standards for reliability, efficiency, and resilience.
DPA operates a mix of colocation and hyperscale facilities integrated with INX-ZA, Africa’s oldest internet exchange, offering low-latency connectivity. iXAfrica’s Nairobi campus, NBOX1, is expanding to a 22.5 MW capacity, supported by recent RMB funding, with a focus on high-density AI and cloud workloads. The partnership marks the first phase of a broader continental expansion, complementing iXAfrica’s ongoing growth, including a 20 MW addition to its Nairobi site and plans for a second campus.
“This partnership is about building bridges across Africa’s digital economy. By aligning with DPA, we are giving customers the confidence to expand seamlessly across borders with the same reliability, efficiency, and resilience they expect in global markets,” said Snehar Shah, CEO of iXAfrica.
A representative from DPA added, “Our vision at Digital Parks Africa has always been to empower businesses with world-class infrastructure. Partnering with iXAfrica extends this commitment beyond South Africa, enabling us to jointly serve the growing needs of a continent on the cusp of a digital revolution.”
The collaboration comes amid rising demand for carrier-neutral, high-resilience, AI-ready data centres in Africa, driven by rapid digitisation, cloud adoption, and AI growth. Analysts say the partnership positions DPA and iXAfrica as key players in building a pan-African digital backbone, helping hyperscalers, enterprises, and governments overcome regional barriers, reduce latency, and lower costs for cross-border operations.
