Mumbai, India - April 8, 2026 - Equinix has launched a new purpose-built International Business Exchange (IBX) data center in Mumbai, strengthening its presence in India and targeting growing demand for AI and cloud infrastructure.

The facility, named MB4, is designed to support high-performance workloads, including artificial intelligence and data-intensive applications, as enterprises and hyperscalers scale digital operations across the country. The launch expands Equinix’s footprint in Mumbai, one of India’s most critical connectivity and data center markets.

MB4 has been developed as a carrier-neutral facility, enabling enterprises, cloud providers, and network operators to interconnect within a highly dense digital ecosystem. The data center is integrated into Equinix’s global platform, allowing customers to deploy infrastructure and connect seamlessly across regions.

The new IBX facility is engineered to accommodate high-density deployments, with advanced cooling and power infrastructure to meet the requirements of AI workloads. It also incorporates energy-efficient design elements aimed at optimizing operational performance while supporting sustainability goals.

Mumbai continues to play a central role in India’s digital infrastructure landscape, driven by strong demand for cloud services, enterprise digital transformation, and increasing data localization requirements. By expanding capacity in this market, Equinix aims to support customers seeking low-latency access and scalable infrastructure within India.

The launch also reinforces Equinix’s broader strategy to expand Platform Equinix across key global metros, enabling businesses to build distributed digital architectures. Through its interconnected ecosystem, the company is positioning itself to address the rising need for hybrid multi-cloud deployments and AI-ready infrastructure.

Industry demand for data centers in India has accelerated significantly, fueled by rapid cloud adoption and the emergence of AI-driven applications. The addition of MB4 is expected to help address capacity constraints while providing a platform for enterprises to scale securely and efficiently.

With this expansion, Equinix continues to deepen its investment in India’s digital economy, supporting the next phase of growth in cloud, connectivity, and artificial intelligence infrastructure.
