London, United Kingdom - March 09, 2026 - Nscale has raised USD 2 billion in a Series C funding round to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence infrastructure and expand its global network of AI-focused data centers.

The funding round values the UK-based company at approximately USD 14.6 billion and was led by investment groups including Aker ASA and 8090 Industries, with participation from major technology and financial investors such as Nvidia, Dell Technologies, Lenovo, Nokia, Citadel, Jane Street, Linden Advisors, and Point72.

The company said the capital will support the expansion of its vertically integrated AI infrastructure platform, which combines high-performance GPU computing, data center facilities, networking, and orchestration software to deliver large-scale AI computing capacity.

Nscale currently has a development pipeline exceeding 1.3 gigawatts of data center capacity across multiple regions, including projects in the United Kingdom, Norway, Portugal, Iceland, and the United States.

Among the company’s key developments is a 90-megawatt AI data center campus in Loughton, UK, designed to host large clusters of AI accelerators. In Norway, the company is expanding a major AI compute hub in Narvik that is expected to scale beyond 200MW of capacity.

Additional projects include large-scale AI infrastructure developments in Texas, along with renewable-powered data center facilities planned for Sines, Portugal, and Keflavík, Iceland.

Nscale said its infrastructure platform is designed to support both AI training and inference workloads, with plans to deploy roughly 200,000 GPUs across its global facilities.

Alongside the funding round, the company also announced several high-profile board appointments. Former Meta executive Sheryl Sandberg and former Meta president of global affairs Nick Clegg have joined the company’s board, alongside former Yahoo president Susan Decker.

The expansion reflects growing demand for specialized data center infrastructure capable of supporting large-scale artificial intelligence systems.

AI workloads typically require significantly greater compute density, power capacity, and cooling infrastructure than conventional enterprise IT environments. As technology companies accelerate the deployment of AI models and services, demand for dedicated AI data centers has surged across major markets.

Nscale founder and chief executive Josh Payne said the company aims to build a global platform capable of delivering large-scale AI compute capacity to enterprises, governments, and research organizations.

The funding underscores the rapid growth of the AI infrastructure sector, where companies are racing to build hyperscale facilities equipped with specialized hardware and high-capacity power systems to support next-generation AI workloads.
